This Craftsman Style home from the turn of the century is located
in the heart of the Cleveland Park Historic District. The program
was to enlarge the house and open it to the significant rear, south-facing
yard, while respecting the massing and material qualities of the
original house.
The solution centers around the extension of the existing center
hall, connecting the Entry Hall through to the rear raised deck,
while allowing cross views between the Kitchen/Breakfast Room to
the new Family Room by means of an open custom designed cabinetry
that also displays the family's art collection. A newly created
back hallway creates a convenient Mudroom and Powder Room. A multi-level
deck connects the house to the rear yard. Other elements included
a complete Basement renovation for Play Space, a Guest Room and
Office. A Second Floor bay expanded a small dark bedroom.
